Crop Buyback: Thanksgiving Edition Recap

Right before the Thanksgiving holiday, the Asian Business Institute and Resource Center (ABIRC) collaborated with Lao Veterans of America, Inc.; Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal, and the City of Fresno to host a Crop Buyback event for the community of Fresno. We were able to serve over 700 families, providing them with a frozen turkey and fresh, locally sourced produce (e.g., pomelos, green onions, mustard greens, and bok choy).  In total, ABIRC was able to distribute over $35,000 worth of food.

Our efforts would not have been possible without our three collaborators, who are mentioned above; wonderful volunteers, who assisted with packaging produce into boxes and handing out boxes to the community; and food vendors–Pho Phuong Nine, LA Kitchen, and Her Supermarket–who helped provide lunch to all staff members and volunteers.

Our final Crop Buyback event will take place later this month. To stay informed, we kindly ask that you regularly check our social media pages and website. Thank you!
